The property is in a tiny village in the Hautes Pyrénées. Within minutes guests can be skiing at a choice of three resorts including the vast St Lary-Soulan site. Or hiking in any of the surrounding mountains. But, most attractive of all, the village lies on one of the classic Tour de France routes linking the Col de Peyresourde to the Col d’Aspin and the Tourmalet. After a 10 km warm-up guests can be measuring themselves against these mythical climbs.
This is a beautiful property which has proven its worth over the years. We particularly appreciate the village location – the old church, the river running through the centre, the way the other houses turn their backs discreetly on each other. One gets four real seasons here and that’s what hosts should think of exploiting: the winter sports people, the Springtime hikers and fisherfolk, the summer with its cyclists (both serious and not so) and the autumn when the deer come down the mountain to mate and everyone listens in awe to the stag’s mating call. By concentrating on these four seasons (with an emphasis on the cycling which is now possible nearly 9 months a year) and offering a generous table d’hôte it should be possible to turn over €100k pa.
