The Albères mountains are the continuation of the Pyrenees as they gracefully slip into the Mediterranean at Collioure. Perched on the forested slopes of these hills – a few kilometres from the Spanish border – this splendid property combines the charm of the mountain architecture with views of the blue Mediterranean just 15 minutes to the East.
Most buyers are looking for the same thing: authentic French houses, stone-built with original features preserved … and yet endowed with 21st century comfort. They want views, private pools and the ability to walk out the door into a typical French village to enjoy a pastis at the local café and come home with a fresh baguette. This property has all this … and more. It is a thriving business as well, generating a very healthy income all year round with advance bookings of up to 18 months to get you off to a flying start.
There are four individual adjacent properties, one of which has a separate apartment. The two farmhouses sleep 10 guests and the two cottages sleep 6 each. The whole estate which sleeps up to 32 guests may be rented individually or by groups. There are three independent swimming pools which means that most guests have private, exclusive facilities.
Our opinion:
This wonderful property attracts primarily by its location in the most southerly and sunniest region of France. With a backdrop of dark green hills and a shimmering horizon of blue, blue sea, one is immediately captivated even before discovering the ancient farmhouses. We haven’t even gone in to the details: further information on each dwelling (rooms, bathrooms, equipment etc) will be provided on request. But even more attractive is the long-established business with many repeat guests behind the scenes which makes this property worth a visit: buyers can live on site or run the business remotely. A fine business which won’t be on the market for long.
