Réalmont, gateway to the Tarn Lake District, is surprisingly only 20 minutes from Albi, the region’s UNESCO World Heritage site. This little-known region of Occitanie is not only close to Albi and Castres, but is a mini-paradise of lakes, rolling countryside and empty roads. This property lies deep in this peaceful countryside, a few hundred metres from a little village with a lively café.
The house is a stone-built farmhouse, solid and square, with a completely new roof. It comprises a spacious kitchen, lounge with wood-burning stove, a separate dining-room and a downstairs shower and toilet. Upstairs, there are four double bedrooms (two ensuite) and a family bathroom. Heating is by state-of-the-art inertia electric heaters.
Next to the house there’s a covered sunparlour which gives on to the swimming pool. This can be completely covered with sliding panels for year-round use or left open for the summer period.
On the southern side, there is another terrace with roof and awning for alfresco dining. This terrace, and the extensive garden, have views across the valley towards the lakes.
Our opinion:
Gite or B&B business? This delightful property is currently used as a second home and occasional gite. It is let out for a few weeks in the summer to (more than) cover costs. We feel that it could be used as a simple Bed & Breakfast establishment, offering, say, three guest rooms and a copious table d’hôte sourced from local producers. Or simply as a very nice place to live! Get in touch now for further details and to book a viewing. .
