Sarlat-la-Caneda is the starting-off point for the Dordogne. All visitors to the region pass through this beautiful, historic town at some point as they explore the county. Its historic buildings – all built with champagne-coloured stone – its lively market and unequalled cafés and restaurants attract visitors from all over the world.
This property is located in the leafy suburbs just ten minutes from the historic centre. It’s a big house, surrounded by easy-to-keep gardens overflowing with oleander and jasmin, divided into four independent self-catering apartments. These are let out on a weekly basis throughout the season : April through to the end of October.
Each apartment has a double bedroom, a separate lounge/dining area and a kitchen. They are equipped with a hob, fridge, dishwasher. Some have their own washing machine; the others use the communal laundry room. The whole house is centrally-heated (town gas) and the upper flat is air-conditioned. Each apartment has its own terrace or balcony, overlooking the town and surrounding countryside.
Out-buildings include a workshop under the terrace and an extensive cellar for storage.
Our opinion:
This is a very successful and sophisticated business in an excellent location. It can be run remotely using all four apartments, or, buyers could opt to live in one of the units while renting out the other three. Whatever your choice, the property is fully renovated and there is no further work to be done. The business ‘season’ could easily be extended to cover the winter months as the demand for longer-term holiday rentals (1 or 2 months) is there.
